MA Screenwriting 2024 Grad Show
Grad Show Screenwriting Project: A Murder Mystery Unveiled
For my MA Screenwriting graduate showcase at the University of the Arts London, I collaborated with my fellow students to create a gripping murder mystery. The narrative revolved around Danny Marsh, a charismatic lead singer who is tragically murdered after his concert. The story involved a web of 20 potential suspects, each with their own secrets and motives.
My contribution focused on “Sleazy,” the band’s drummer and the last person to see Danny alive. Through a two-page screenplay, I explored Sleazy’s perspective, capturing his inner conflict and the suspicion surrounding his actions. Working with an actor, I brought Sleazy to life, crafting a performance that left viewers questioning his involvement. This collaboration allowed me to merge my skills as a screenwriter with the dynamic energy of live performance.
The showcase was a multimedia experience, blending video, photography, and live storytelling. Sleazy’s narrative, alongside the other characters, added a vibrant thread to the larger tapestry of the mystery, pulling the audience into the tension and intrigue.
This project not only sharpened my storytelling skills but also demonstrated my ability to collaborate, craft rich characters, and create immersive visual narratives. It represents my dedication to exploring complex stories that captivate and engage.
Alongside the collaborative mystery project, our individual major projects were also showcased. My TV series project, Knuckleball, was presented through multiple mediums: a two-page script sample, a visual proposal, and a custom-designed poster by Harvey Ling-Cottey. I personally designed my visual proposal using Adobe InDesign, shaping it to resemble a football matchday program to reflect my show’s unique tone and theme.
